  • The Options (SetMode.exe) seems to works, and even let's you select some settings, but the OK button is greyed out, and thus you can only click Cancel. Press the Enter ↵ key to save the settings.
  • Upon start, the game (patched, and no-CD patch applied) complains about a too-small virtual memory/swap file and the missing connection to WigHelper.exe - you can ignore both. The game itself a bit slow and choppy, the voices and subtitles are missing (athough general sound effects work) and for some reason the dwarfs cannot dig a tunnel - they would endless work on the second bit of it and never get further down. That basically ends the game right there because digging down is the entire goal of the game :-/
  • The US demo has the same issues as the game.
  • Under Cedega 5.1.1, the game does no longer start, with or without no-cd.

Diggles is a 3D real-time strategy game - but unlike others you look at the world from the side instead from top - very much like in a doll's house.

Your "units" are little dwarfs - male and female, old and young. Each of them has his/her own personality, name, mood, needs and sleep/wake cycle. While following the usual style of "mine materials, use them to build and invent stuff", the choices for what you actually need are quite funny. Raw materials include such things as giant fly agarics (building material, food), rocks (duh!), hamsters (grilled hamsters, hmmm!) and later on beer (Diggles love beer!) and much more funny things. You can build fireplaces, ladders (to climb vertical tunnels faster), doors (keep monsters out and your hamsters in), tents, a stone mason, a beer-bar, farms (you guessed it, for mushrooms and hamsters :), etc. etc.

Watching the dwarfs doing their work, sleep, play, converse with each other, fall in love, etc. will provide hours of distraction. This game has a high addiction factor just as the Settlers series.
