Issues

  • The launcher/updater does not work.
  • Some graphics corruption in window mode (none in full screen mode).
  • The chat window appears in the wrong place in 1024x768 full screen mode.
  • Normally requires IE6 to launch (this can be worked around, see below).

Starting the Client

Normally to start the client in Windows you must first log in to the web site, then click on the "start game" flash button, but this only works in IE6. To start the game without IE6, follow the instructions below:

  • Log in to the site with the browser of your choice (Firefox is known to work)
  • Visit the following URI: http://www.tricksteronline.com/Game/Run.aspx
  • You will get a blank page and a message that you need to use Internet Explorer. Dismiss the message and look at the source for the page.
  • You will find two hidden form fields in the source, one named uid and the other named key.
  • Under Cedega, after you have installed the game, add a shortcut to launch Trickster.bin
  • Add to the command line options for Trickster.bin the uid then a comma, then the key.

You should now be able to launch the client and access the game as your user. The uid and the key appear to be some kind of session identifier. If you spend a while logged out of the game they will expire, and you will have to repeat the process.

Bear in mind that bad things are likely to happen if you don't update the game with the launcher before playing. Currently this has to be done with Windows (real or in a virtual machine).
