Issues

Installation

  • Installation was perfect using cedega 7.0 on ubuntu hardy(8.04).

Older Installation Issues

  • The game does not install correctly, even though it appears to. To install correctly:
  • If doing a complete install, copy disks 2-4 to directories on your hard drive. (This is done because the setup program will not allow ejecting the CD.)
  • Mount CD 1 using the "unhide" option; either by editing /etc/fstab to include it, or by mounting with mount -o unhide /cdrom (or whatever is appropriate for your setup). If this was done correctly, you should see a new M3Data directory on the CD.
  • Run the setup program as normal. If doing a complete install, use the "browse" option to copy the data from the directories you setup earlier.

Cedega Game Issues

  • If a minimal install was used, Myst 3 might not recognize disks on insertion. To fix this, do a complete install. (In Windows, Myst 3 does not recognize drive letters above D, so making sure drive D is the CDROM might also lead to success.)
  • Use Software mode, not DirectX, to avoid a massive performance hit.

Older Game Issues

  • Several important shortcut keys don't work, making it impossible to save, or to quit normally.
  • Aside from the shortcut key issue, the game works correctly.

Wine Game Issues

  • DirectX mode fails on startup. Use software mode.
  • Game requires no-cd patch; otherwise, the copy-protection fails.
  • Other than that, the game works. Performance is similar to Windows, and there are no obvious bugs.
