Issues

  • An error message complaining about lack of a ADPCM codec comes up when the game is run, but this does not seem to have any effect on the game, which otherwise seems to run perfectly.
  • Game defaults to software rendering - make sure you enable 3D hardware rendering in the video tab on the pre-game options panel.
  • Some users may experience lag when moving the mouse over anything you can click on or when firing weapons. This can be gotten around by setting the Cedega profile to use OSS and point it at /dev/null. This will, of course, result in no sound, but the game will be playable.
  • The demo fails when attempting to start the game. It complains that it is unable to initialize the Microsoft ACDPCM codec, but unlike the full game this prevents the demo from running. (5.0.1)

Note: There is a beta of a native Linux version of this game that can be used with the Windows CDs available here. It has some limitations (no sounds in movies), but also has some features lacking in the Windows version (support for 1024x768 resolution).
